Dr. Maggie Beers has lived on the bleeding edge of language, culture and technology throughout her 30-year post-secondary educational career in the United States, Spain, France and Canada,
working as a second language instructor, teacher educator, multimedia designer, video producer, learning space designer and university administrator. As Executive Director of Academic Technology at San Francisco State University, she oversees the units that provide the online and classroom technologies, support services, and faculty development for teaching across all learning modalities. She is a leadership team member of the newly formed Center for Equity and Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CEETL), which values and rewards teaching and promotes learning environments that foster social justice and the respectful and vigorous exchange of ideas in which students and faculty thrive and succeed. Maggie received her B.A. and M.A. from UC Santa Barbara and her Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. She is past-president of DET/CHE, alumni mentor for Leadership San Francisco, and the only parent on college tours who takes pictures of learning spaces and asks about LMS service level agreements.
